Are Shoe Sales Online Lucrative Enough to Get Into?

Sharing is caring!

Welcome back to my continuing series where I take a look at different niches to determine if it’s possible to earn money online through Affiliate Marketing. Last time I talked about rocking chairs and whether it’s possible to create a website where you can earn money from that particular niche.

I looked at things such as rocking chair accessories, different kinds of rocking chairs, prices that they are selling for online, and what kinds of questions people are asking about rocking chairs. Well this time I’m going to take a look to see whether shoe sales online is a lucrative enough niche to promote on a blog.

Getting into the Shoes Niche

Everyone needs shoes and there are definitely many different kinds one can choose from especially if you want to cash in on shoe sales online. There’s dress shoes, running shoes, men’s shoes, kids shoes, women’s shoes, hiking boots, etc. As you can see, the broad shoe niche can be broken down much further.

Of course, you can always get into the very popular sports section of shoes, in particular, Nike shoes. Nike is one of the most recognized brand of shoes out there and we know what truly propelled them up there is their most famous shoe line, Air Jordans. They have to probably the most popular shoes that have ever been released and people have been known in some rare instances to rob or even kill for them (PLEASE don’t do that!).

There are of course some other popular brands such as Reebok and Adidas and their shoes sell pretty well. Of course, there are also shoe accessories you could look at such as shoe inserts, shoe polishing kit, shoe strings, maybe even best socks to wear in particular shoes and more. If shoes is your thing, you’ve got a lot of great places to start and areas you can focus on that will make it easier for your content to rank.

What Problems Need Solving in This Niche?

Now that we’ve broken down the shoe niche a bit, what kinds of problems are people actually having in the shoe niche? Let’s find out. Last time, I talked about a great place online where you can search for the kinds of questions people are asking online in any particular niche or subject.

The place I talked about where you can do that at is answerthepublic.com. Let me tell you, using that website along with the great keyword tool known as Jaaxy will help you immensely when it comes to researching and finding the post topics and keywords to get rankings on your website. You now have a way to find what people are asking questions about or needing certain problems solved and if you can answer them, you’ll definitely be very successful as I’ve mentioned before.

I’m just going to type in shoes at the website I mentioned above and see what kinds of questions will come up. After I hit enter and wait a few seconds, an impressive list of over 150 questions comes up. There are all kinds of questions people are asking online about shoes.

How have shoes changed over time? How are shoes supposed to fit? Which shoes are best? Will shoes melt in the dryer? Which shoes should you wear to the gym? As you can tell, there are a wide variety of questions people are asking about shoes and I haven’t even scratched the surface of it.

There’s another great place to go online that I haven’t even talked about yet, but is a very popular place to ask questions and get them answered and that place is called Quora, if you haven’t heard of it already. You can search there for all kinds of different topics for questions and if you’re knowledgeable enough, you can sign up and answer those questions that people are asking.

How To Tell If It Will Be Profitable

Since we know what kinds of questions people are asking in the shoe niche, we need to see what shoes are selling for and if they can be profitable or not. One quick way to see prices of shoes online is to just type in shoes in Google and what should come up is a brief list of different kinds of shoes and what they are selling for at different prices.

One of the first ones that come up on the list for me is the Men’s Under Armour Curry 5 Basketball Shoes. The price of this particular shoe is going for $130 at this time and let’s say this site has a 4 to 7% percent commission rate on each shoe sold if you were a part of their affiliate program. You’ll earn anywhere from $5-$9 a sale and I know that may not sound like much, but if you’re consistent with your blog and provide very useful content, you can potentially get good traffic and multiple sales of those shoes can add up quickly.

Let’s say for example you get 1,000 people per day visiting your site, but maybe 50 to 100 of them end up buying those particular pair of shoes based on the article you provided. You could earn anywhere from $200 to $900 a day based on those figures. I’m NOT guaranteeing that, but that is always a possibility of what could happen if promotion in this niche were done.

Next, let’s see what affiliate programs are out there for shoes. A simple search in Google should bring up a nice list as all you have to do is type shoes + affiliate program in the search bar and click enter. Some of the ones that pop up on the first page are affiliate programs from shoes.com which offers a 9% commission rate, shiek shoes which has a 10% commission rate, and clarks which offers a 7% commission rate.

Of course there’s always the Amazon Affiliate program you can sign up with which generally offers a 4% commission rate, but I did mention in a part article of this series that Amazon also offers commission on other products on their site so if someone clicks your affiliate link and doesn’t buy the shoes you’re promoting, but instead finds something else on Amazon say a large flat screen TV, you’ll get a commission for that sale which is really nice. It’s time to take a look at what all is needed to make this all a reality.

What You Need To Do To Start Earning Money

If your passion is shoes especially let’s say when it comes to sport shoes and you want to help people out in that niche, the first thing you’re going to need is a website. As I’ve mentioned in the past, you’ll need to get a domain name registered such as something like nickssportshoes.com, for example. This will not cost you very much usually no more than $15 a year.

You’ll need to then have a place to host your website once you’ve registered your domain name and places such as godaddy.com can also be a good place to register your domain name as well as be a host of your website. You’re going to want a great website builder that allows you to choose easy to use templates to get your site up and running and WordPress is one of the best places online to do that at.

Of course, you’re going to want to find an affiliate program to join so that you can start earning money from shoes that you recommend or review on your website. There are different ones to choose from and each offers different commission rates so choose the ones that you feel will be the best one for you and it doesn’t always have to be Amazon. Something I want to say though is that when you’re first establishing yourself with an online website and blog, you don’t want to necessarily start posting affiliate links everywhere on your site.

Google, for one, doesn’t like that, and you won’t have the traffic yet to where you can start earning money from your affiliate links. What you need to do first is to put useful content on your site that can genuinely help people. Google and most other search engines want to see quality content that is helpful to others and once they see that you’re posting that kind of content consistently on your website, you’ll start to move up in rankings as people will start to trust what you have to say and you’ll even see engagement on your posts which is what Google likes.

Affiliate Programs For Shoes

This all takes time and you’ll have to work consistently in order to see results. This is something that you’re building up in the long term so don’t expect to make money super quickly once you start this endeavor, but with time and hard work, it will definitely happen. The final thing that is needed is a place where you can learn how to make this a successful online venture. A place that will teach you to get rankings on Google and other search engines, how to set up how your website/blog and the best ways to promote it. Thankfully there is a place that teaches you how to do all of that and that’s what I’ll be discussing next.

Conclusion: Wealthy Affiliate

I mentioned earlier that you need a place to learn to build a profitable online website in the shoe niche. Wealthy Affiliate is that place as they offer some of the best training and tools in the Affiliate Marketing industry that it seems like there’s no way that you won’t succeed (as long as you put in the work). They have one of the most helpful communities I’ve ever seen online and the training is updated and very task oriented so that you’re always taking action especially from what you’ve learned.

I know I’ve talked about Wealthy Affiliate a lot already in the last few articles of mine, but I would not be talking about it so much if I didn’t think it would be beneficial to you. They don’t make outrageous claims where you’re promised thousands of dollars in just a couple of days with just a few clicks. They’re honest and realistic about what it will take to earn money once you’ve applied what is taught there.

I have another website of my own in a niche that I’m very passionate about, but it took me a couple of years to earn revenue from it. I’m not saying that’s how long it will take you, but you will get out of it what you put into it. I haven’t always worked consistently on that site so it has taken me a lot longer to earn anything than a lot of other people there. Now if I had stayed completely consistent as I should’ve been from the get go, I probably would’ve seen some earnings sooner. The average for a premium member to start earning money is 3-6 months. I’m putting some emphasis here that this is not a guarantee, but on average for those who work hard at it and stay consistent, your chances are high that you’ll see something in that time frame.

I’m not trying to discourage anyone as I want to give you realistic expectations here. You’ll have to treat this like a business which means you need to put in some kind of work every day so that you can see the results later on down the road in the long term. You are building the foundation for your business so that it can be built up to a very lucrative venture for you.

You’ll have the tools you need there to succeed. Here’s some of the great tools that Wealthy Affiliate offers you:

Domain Registering and Hosting When I first started Wealthy Affiliate back in late 2013/early 2014, this wasn’t offered there. You had to register your domain at another site such as godaddy.com and then point the domain to Wealthy Affiliate so you could start building out your site. That has now changed and you no longer have to do that as Wealthy Affiliate now allows you to register a domain and host your website all in one spot.

Oh, did I mention the GREAT benefits of doing that at WA? You’ll get SSL security for your website, enhanced site speed to keep it optimized and running fast, and SPAM blocker to keep that stuff away from your comments section. They offer all of this at NO extra charge to you whereas at other domain hosting sites that could cost you hundreds more in addition to registering your domain name.

JAAXY Keyword Tool – In order to get your content ranked in Google, where the ultimate goal is to get your content on the first page of Google and other search engines, you’ll need a tool that will help you find the keywords to get you ranked faster and with less competition. The beauty of the training at Wealthy Affiliate is that they teach you exactly how to do this, how to find what’s called the low hanging fruit so it’ll be easier for you to get ranked.

Site Content – This is something fairly new that they started offering last year, but this tool will help you greatly in writing content. This tends to be the hardest thing for people to do because they think they’ll run out of ideas or they just don’t know how to start writing. With Site Content, you can set writing goals, create templates for different kinds of articles you may want to write, and receive notifications when your content has been indexed in Google. Trust me, with this tool, you’ll be able to write a lot more than you think was possible.

Weekly Live Video Classes – Every Friday evening there is a live video class on various topics to help you be successful with your online business at Wealthy Affiliate. There’s an excellent training host who lays everything out in such a way that it’s easy to follow and understand and always leaves time for questions anyone may have at the end. One great thing I love about it is that once in awhile he’ll do a live session where people can have their website looked on during the video to see what is done well and what things could maybe use some work. It has been very beneficial to people.

Training – This is the last thing I want to talk about, but excellent training is essential for your success and that is exactly what is provided here. There are 2 main trainings you can venture into once you become a member and that is the Affiliate Bootcamp and the Online Entrepreneur Certification. I break it down a little more of what either one of those entail in my full review of Wealthy Affiliate.

There are also separate classrooms for many different trainings, plus trainings that members can create to further help others that might need further clarification with something. There’s so much there that it can sometimes be overwhelming, but the good news is that there is a definite place for you to start once you join so that you’re not overwhelmed at the beginning.

I’ve mentioned before that it is free to join Wealthy Affiliate and you’re never obligated to put in a credit card. The first time you sign up, you’ll have a 7-day trial which grants you full access to everything inside Wealthy Affiliate and after the trial is over, you can still remain a free member for as long as you like and you’ll always have access to the first 10 lessons of the Online Entrepreneur Certification course as well as two free websites. The premium membership which is $49 a month grants you access to all the tools I mentioned above and everything else that’s available in Wealthy Affiliate. Go ahead and read my review and then give it a try, you have absolutely nothing to lose by checking it out.
